Rooted in San Francisco
Edward Hadeler, MD, is a San Francisco native and third-generation physician serving the Bay Area. Growing up in the city, he was inspired by the example of his grandfather and mother, both physicians whose careers reflected a commitment to caring for their community.
He attended Stuart Hall and Lick-Wilmerding High School before leaving San Francisco for college, beginning a path in medicine that would ultimately bring him back home.
UC Santa Barbara
At the University of California, Santa Barbara, Dr. Hadeler pursued dual interests in science and the humanities, studying Biological Sciences and the History of Art and Architecture. At commencement, he received the William R. Reardon Award in recognition of his academic achievements.
His longstanding interest in art and the visual humanities has continued throughout his medical career, including scholarly work exploring the intersection of dermatology, anatomy, and Renaissance art.
Medical School at University of Miami & Research at UCSF
Dr. Hadeler received his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. His medical training was complemented by experiences in clinical service, research, and global health.
His training also included two dedicated years of clinical research at the University of California, San Francisco, where he developed an early interest in dermatologic research and academic medicine.
Dermatology at UT Southwestern
Dr. Hadeler completed his dermatology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he trained across the breadth of medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology at a large academic medical center and safety-net health system.
During residency, he developed particular interests in procedural dermatology, cutaneous surgery, cosmetic dermatology, and emerging therapeutics while remaining actively involved in research, education, and resident leadership.
Returning Home to San Francisco
After completing residency and becoming board certified in dermatology, Dr. Hadeler returned home to San Francisco to join Dermatology Medical Group of San Francisco. With a history extending more than a century, the physician-owned practice has long been part of San Francisco's dermatologic community.
Today, he cares for patients across medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology while continuing his involvement in research, education, and organized dermatology. Returning to practice in the community where he grew up brings his professional path full circle and continues his family's longstanding connection to medicine in the Bay Area.
Outside the Office
Dr. Hadeler enjoys spending time with his wife and family, hiking, and exploring the outdoors. He also enjoys reconnecting with old school friends and rediscovering familiar neighborhoods throughout the city. A San Francisco native, he is grateful to have returned home to raise his family and care for patients in the community where he grew up.
